We had a ball working with Charlotte Muennink to design her wedding paper for her Texas fiesta-themed wedding last fall! Dixie artist Gina Langford was commissioned to create the brightly colored crest and accents for Charlotte’s custom paper suite. We love how bold colors reflect Charlotte’s wedding location.
Charlotte was so kind to share details on her wedding planning process as well as images from her beautiful wedding day. We can’t wait to give you a behind-the-scenes look into her beautiful Texas wedding! How did the two of you meet? Tell us your story.
Kyle and I met through a mutual friend at Texas A&M University, but never got to know each other until we both ended up in Austin after graduation. This is where we reconnected at a backyard bbq and hit it off. He asked me to dinner the next day and the rest is history! We’ve been inseparable ever since.
What was your venue (church and/or reception) and why did you select it?
We decided to get married at the Gage Hotel because of it’s laid back yet stylish charm and their accommodating staff. They were incredible, and took away the stress that goes into planning a wedding. Anything we needed or wanted, they could make it happen! Beer donkey, no problem! Fiesta decor – check! They thought of everything. Also, the Gage is the quintessential Texas destination that exudes the history that we as Texans are so proud of.
What about your wedding was unique?
Our wedding was unique because of it’s location and size. We wanted a small wedding with only our closest friends and family there, and having it out in west Texas made it just that. Everyone that truly wanted to be there and love us were there (the only way to get out there is driving) and it made the weekend so special. The scenery didn’t hurt either. The Texas sunsets are one of a kind!
What was your favorite paper detail from your wedding?
My favorite paper detail was our Save the Date. I feel like it really set the mood for the entire wedding. It was colorful, fun, and not too serious. The crest that Gina made for us was so beautiful. It was the perfect first piece for our wedding guests to receive in the mail. You couldn’t receive it and NOT want a margarita!
Do you have any advice for a bride currently planning her wedding?
Plan the wedding of YOUR dreams, not your parents, not your friends, or anyone else. Plan it around you and your fiancé and what y’all like to do and enjoy. The entire wedding vibe is set by the bride and groom, so if y’all are enjoying it and having the time of your lives, your guests will too. Don’t be afraid to break the rules and do things different from the norm. You won’t regret it!
