Continuing to catch-up with some of our artists, Riley Sheehey is our feature today. Riley is a watercolor and multimedia artist based in Falls Church, Virginia. Before becoming an artist full-time, she taught elementary school art and developed a love for whimsical styles and playful details. Her artwork reflects this childlike view of the world with fun color palettes and an attention to detail that evokes a viewer’s curiosity. Enjoy our quick Q&A with Riley below as well as some of our favorite products that feature Riley’s Dogwood Hill artwork.
Describe yourself in six words or less. Paintbrush in hand, foot in mouth
Favorite way to wind down. Go for a long run outside (or a glass of wine and handful of Goldfish at the end of the day!)
I work best when. I’m at home in my studio with a fresh cup of coffee, first thing in the morning before anyone has woken up!
My summer bucket list items I am most looking forward to. I can’t wait to go to the beach with our extended family in a couple of weeks- last year, my daughter, Bryn, was still a little too small to know what was going on- this year, I think she is going to be so excited to put her toes in the sand and splash around in the water!
Favorite listen at the moment. Anything by Phoebe Bridgers- I saw her in concert a few weeks ago (she opened for Taylor Swift) and I know I have been living under a rock but she is so incredibly talented!
Favorite beverage for a cool-down in the summer. I love a good hazy IPA!
Items on your wishlist from the Dogwood Hill spring/summer collection. I LOVE what the DH team did with my Bella Garden artwork from holiday 2022, and think they’ve made so many fun pieces of spring/summer stationery.
