We continue our 2020 Holiday Tastemaker introductions today with lifestyle blogger Emily Hertz. Emily is an Atlanta-based, NYC-born, mother of two with a passion for party styling and an affinity for all things beautiful. A veteran in the fashion industry, Emily has become a well-known influencer for entertaining ideas, fashion, and tot-friendly finds on her Born on Fifth social media channels. Emily’s newest venture is the launch of her curated online home and lifestyle shop, Bows and Blue. Emily currently resides in Atlanta with her husband, two children and cavalier, Birdie.

Emily was paired with Dogwood Hill artist Riley Sheehey who painted the beautiful artwork for Emily’s tastemaker collection.

Riley’s inspiration came from a mood board sent by Emily filled with her favorite sage green as well as the trellises and floral concepts. Emily actually has a trellis room in her home (pictured above), so the artwork was very fitting!

We hope you enjoy our Q&A with Emily below!

What is your favorite holiday tradition?
I love getting all of our gifts wrapped up and bringing them to my in-laws house for our big family gift exchange. It’s one of my favorite nights of the year (Elle’s too!).

What is your most memorable holiday and why?
Seeing the holidays through Elle’s eyes has been my favorite…they’re truly getting better as the years go on! While it won’t be “normal” I’m still very excited for our first holiday season with the newest member of our family, Jennings.

Which cards (from your Tastemaker Suite) will you be sending out to family and friends this holiday?
I had the hardest time narrowing down, they’re all so beautiful (The Treillis! The Florals!). I think we will likely go with the Treillis Floral design! Best of both worlds.

For Holiday cards, how do you compile your list?
Updating my list is always on my list. Originally we sent cards to our wedding guests, and over time we’ve added new friends and families, like classmates of Elle’s. She loves getting her friends cards in the mail.

Do you have a consistent go-to gift for family? friends? work acquaintances?
This year everyone on my list will be getting a gift from my new shop, Bows & Blue or one of my Born on Fifth gift guides! Those are always favorites. I love gifting useful,  pretty pieces!

What is your go-to holiday hostess gift?
I love gifting a bottle of wine and pretty cocktail napkins. Easy and always appreciated.

What is your favorite last-minute holiday gift idea?
My go-to gift (above) is easy to pull together on short notice! I also think a pretty soap and soap dish would make a nice gift this year.

What keeps you inspired during the busy holiday season?
Seeing how everyone decorates their homes and pretty wrapping paper suites!

What (if anything) brings you a sense of calm during the busy holiday season?
Knowing that the season is fleeting. I do always try to stop and take it all in!

What is your favorite holiday dessert? Would you be open to sharing the recipe?
Anything I don’t have to make!

What is your go-to favorite holiday scent?
There’s nothing like the smell of wood on the fire, especially at Blackberry Farm, where we’ve spent the holidays the past few years.

Who is on your dream holiday party guest? If applicable, please share their Instagram handles.
I’ve written and rewritten this list! Any dinner party, let alone a dream party, sounds lovely. I would keep it small.
@kensingtonroyal
@claiborneswansonfrank
@mollyfienning
@marcherobinson
@aerin
And me!

Where are you daydreaming of traveling to in 2021?
Anywhere! Everywhere! I would love to go with my family to Scotland and London, with my husband to France or Italy and with my kids to Blackberry Farm.

What are you most thankful for this year? And what are you most looking forward to in the New Year? 2020 has been such a strange year!
I’m thankful for our sweet baby boy, who we welcomed in March (nothing like being born at the height of a pandemic!). Looking forward to a sense of normalcy. I’ll never take a dinner party for granted again!
