Our design team has been busy this past year teaming up with the WILLIAMSBURG brand to create something really special—our Williamsburg Collection! If you missed the big reveal, don’t worry—you can catch up on all the details in our blog post here.
Each of the eight patterns found throughout our collection of holiday cards and gift wrap were sourced from WILLIAMSBURG historic patterns of original 18th-century textiles, wall coverings and rare book engravings. We didn’t repaint or reinterpret a single pattern. Each one was digitally restored from the original, so what you hold in your hands is as close to history as it gets.
Today, we are excited to dive into our Everard Damask suite!
When our founder, Jennifer, and Creative Director, Lucy, visited Williamsburg in February they toured the George Wythe House—home to a Founding Father who taught Thomas Jefferson himself. On the tour, one of the upstairs bedrooms stopped them in their tracks – green wallpaper with green-and-white plaid fabric, perfectly paired!
The next day, a curator pulled that exact wallpaper from the archives for them to consider for the Collection. That moment inspired this suite. We also scanned the historic fabric and digitized the plaid to add as a complementary pattern to the floral damask pattern.
The original green floral wallpaper was first found in Thomas Everard’s house that was built in 1717, and features a “mock flock,” which is designed to mimic the look of luxurious velvet damask. Every detail in the paper carries centuries of artistry.
We created holiday cards and wrapping paper for this suite, and the result is timeless—perfect for gifts under the tree or celebrating all year long. Continue scrolling for snapshots of some of our Everard Damask products inside the Wythe House and in the Elizabeth Carlos Garden.
Our photo shoot team had such a wonderful time capturing all of the suites on location in Williamsburg this June. Seeing the cards and wrapping paper styled in the very places that inspired them made the experience especially meaningful. And even though it was the middle of summer, we managed to channel our holiday spirit—and had plenty of fun along the way!
